Elise Smith joined COPE Health Solutions in March 2015 as Program Manager of the Health Scholar programs. In this role, Elise oversees over 400 students at Riverside Community Hospital.
Prior to joining COPE Health Solutions, Ms. Smith completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature with an emphasis in Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As an undergraduate, Ms. Smith joined the Health Scholar program at St. John’s Hospitals and joined the leadership team as a Quality Management Coordinator. Her experience as a Health Scholar and member of the leadership team fueled her passion for medicine and serving the community. The experiences from her participation in the Health Scholar program guided Ms. Smith to become an EMT-B and join COPE Health Solutions as a Program Manager in her hometown of Riverside, California.
Ms. Smith has a Master of Science degree in Global Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC), Keck School of Medicine. She is recognized by the university for her outstanding leadership, volunteerism and commitment to the community. Ms. Smith served as the External Vice President for WorldMed during her time at USC and facilitated mentorship and capacity building through health and science activities for elementary students. She also had the opportunity to travel to Panama in partnership with Floating Doctors to help increase access to healthcare for underserved indigenous communities. Ms. Smith visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York City in March of 2015 to study global policy and program development, implementation and assessment.
Ms. Smith is excited to invest in future healthcare leaders through the Health Care Talent Innovations Pipeline. Her passion is to bring positive transformation to the healthcare system in order to improve health at local and global levels.
