Morgan Owens joined COPE Health Solutions in July 2019 as the Program Manager at Adventist Health White Memorial. In this role, she leads recruitment efforts to increase enrollment from proximate neighborhoods and works closely with hospital staff to ensure scholars add maximum value to the patient experience. As someone passionate about increasing access to underserved populations, Ms. Owens takes pride in partnering with a hospital that has demonstrated a true commitment to its community.
Ms. Owens brings six years of experience as an advocate for social justice. In her most recent role, she worked as the Assistant Director of Youth Initiatives at Texas Southern University’s Earl Carl Institute, where she championed local and state reform to the juvenile justice system. She also spearheaded the launch of the Black Girls Initiative, creating a mentorship pipeline for at-risk girls. Prior to that, she led professional development programs for beginning teachers on topics including cultural responsiveness and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Ms. Owens received her Master’s in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University while teaching Special Education on the Leeward coast of Oahu, Hawai’i. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Columbia University in the City of New York.
