Salwa Hossain joined COPE Health Solutions in February 2023 as a Program Coordinator. In her role, Ms. Hossain manages the daily operations at St. John’s Hospitals in Oxnard and Camarillo. While managing the day-to-day operations of the program, Ms. Hossain also leads initiatives on Health Scholar engagement and the professional development of the student leadership team.
Prior to joining COPE Health Solutions, Ms. Hossain was enrolled in the COPE Health Scholars Program from 2019 – 2023 at Riverside Community Hospital. Ms. Hossain dedicated her time in the program as a Scholar, Leadership team member, Executive team member and a Health Scholar Assistant. She started as a Department Coordinator, later taking on a new role in managing the Administrative branch of the Leadership team as the Director of Administration. During her time as a Director of Administration, she led the program in changes of health requirements through the COVID-19 pandemic to continuously uphold CDC guidelines, ensuring the safety of the program participants and members of the community. Throughout her time as a Director and a Health Scholar Assistant, Ms. Hossain recruited, trained, and mentored Leadership team members, helping them acclimate in their new roles and foster their professional development.
Ms. Hossain graduated from the University of California, Riverside with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. During her undergraduate career, Ms. Hossain partook in research seminars focusing on various stages of development and aging. Her studies consolidated her interest in preventative care as it relates to the elderly who may be at risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
