International Students - COPE Health Scholars

International Students

Are you an international applicant living outside the United States? Our programs for international students will give you a better understanding of the U.S. health care system through experiential learning and coursework.

International Health Scholar Program

As an International Health Scholar, you have several programs to enrich your understanding of the U.S. health care system. These programs are designed to help students succeed in careers in nursing, pharmacy, health administration, medicine and allied health – in the U.S. and beyond. For all of our programs, you will develop skills to navigate the unique cultural and demographic aspects of the U.S. health care environment and apply your knowledge immediately to your practical training. You will also have the opportunity to meet other International Health Scholars and gain a broader perspective of health care on a global level while becoming part of an international community of health practitioners. International Health Scholars can choose from two types of programs:

Study Tour

Over the course of one week, students will explore different aspects of the U.S. health care system and learn about a career in health care (medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied health and public health) through lectures taught by University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) professors as well as trainings, hospital tours, guest lectures, simulation labs and university visits. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate of completion from UCLA. Students will connect with other students from around the world while touring Los Angeles. Separate tracks are available for high school students and college/university students.

Programs offered: winter, spring and summer
