Program Requirements
- Classroom Training & Study Time: Approximately 5-16 hours per week for onsite didactic learning, study time, and preparing for the CNA exam with your instructor(s).
- Skills Preparation: Each set of skills will be reviewed in person with the instructor prior to clinicals to assess competency.
- Clinical Training (10 Weeks): Weekly in–person 8-hour shifts in assigned unit to practice patient care tasks alongside instructor. Weekend shifts may not be available.

(Q) Do you accept scholarships from outside organizations?
(A) Yes, we do accept scholarships from outside organizations. If you have a scholarship from an outside organization, contact us at admissions@copehealthscholars.org for instructions on how to remit payment for the scholarship.
Program Specifics
(Q) Am I guaranteed to be hired at Torrance Memorial Medical Center after this program?
(A) Graduates of the program will be positioned as priority applicants for Certified Nurse Assistant openings at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. To support job placement at the end of the program, it is highly encouraged that Scholars treat the program as an open interview and build rapport with staff during their clinical shifts.
(Q) How many students are you accepting?
(A) For the inaugural cohort starting in 2025, we’re anticipating to accept up to 10 candidates for the Nurse Assistant Scholar Training Program.
