Pre-Licensed Care Coordination and Patient Experience

Program Requirements
  • Must be accepted to, enrolled in, or graduated from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be at least 18 years old by the application deadline.
  • Attend a three-day training upon acceptance.
  • Must carry personal health insurance meeting ACA requirements.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must meet immunization requirements (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, TB, Flu).
  • May need to provide immunization titers or health screenings.
  • Must comply with substance-free learning environments (drug testing may be required).
  • CPR Certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association) required at clearance appointment.

Admissions

(Q) I am having trouble submitting my application through the web portal, what do I do?

 (A) Please contact admissions@copehealthscholars.org and an admissions counselor from our team will reach out to you shortly.

(Q) I was not accepted. Can I reapply?

 (A) Yes, you may re-apply. In your new application, highlight new insights or learning you have had since your last application. Please don’t re-submit the exact same application.

(Q) What can I do to increase my chances of admission?

 (A) Take the application and interview process seriously. Spend time on your essays to demonstrate why you want to be in the program. Prepare for your interview and dress professionally. The career center at your college or university is a good resource for preparing for applications and interviews.

(Q) When do I need to show proof of immunizations and CPR certification?

 (A) Proof of immunization and CPR certifications are due during your clearance appointment, which is scheduled before the first day of training. You do not need to complete these items before submitting your application.

Program Specifics

(Q) Which sites currently offer the Care Navigator Program?

(A) Adventist Health Glendale, Kaiser Permanente Riverside and Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital currently offer the Care Navigator Scholars program.

(Q) I am currently a Health Scholar at a site that doesn’t offer a Care Navigator Scholars Program. How can I get involved?

(A) If you would like to transfer into the Care Navigator Scholars Program and your site does not currently offer one, you need to submit a transfer request form, pay a transfer fee, and retrain at a site that offers Care Navigator Scholars.

(Q) Do you accept scholarships from outside organizations?

(A) Yes, we do accept scholarships from outside organizations. If you have a scholarship from an outside organization, contact us at admissions@copehealthscholars.org for instructions on how to remit payment for the scholarship.
