How is the Nurse Assistant Training Program taking Covid-19 precautions into consideration?

All CDC-recommended precautions are in place, including social distancing and appropriate PPE precautions.

 

How is COVID-19 transmitted from person to person?

According to cdc.gov, the virus is thought to spread from person – to – person within about 6 feet apart through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes or via touching infected surfaces. COPE Health Solutions recommends frequently visiting the websites of Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and any local government websites to obtain the most up-todate information on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Will students be notified if there is a positive case of COVID-19 at our hospital site?

No, Nurse Assistant Training students will not be notified if there is a positive case of COVID-19 at their hospital site, as it is not appropriate to share that patient information. However, Nurse Assistant Training students will be notified if there is potential exposure during their clinical shifts or if they are not allowed in a particular room or unit of health care setting.’

  • Am I guaranteed to be hired at Torrance Memorial Medical Center after this program? Graduates of the program will be positioned as priority applicants for Certified Nurse Assistant openings at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. To support job placement at the end of the program, it is highly encouraged that Scholars treat the program as an open interview and build rapport with staff during their clinical shifts.
  • How many students are you accepting? For the inaugural cohort starting in 2025, we’re anticipating to accept up to 10 candidates for the Nurse Assistant Scholar Training Program.
